Latest update on Ash see below 31.01.05

Monday 23rd August 2004.

This is Ash today after several months on her medication for Hypo T and Yeast and Mold Allergies.

Monday 31st January 2005

What a lovely sight to see, Ash nearly back to how she used to be. What a joy to behold my girl finally has her coat and she plays like a puppy with her Pei house friends its just a real pleasure to see I never thought this day would ever arrive.

We have recently had a skin condition, extensive allergen dermatology skin tests have been undertaken, which show she is making extensive Yeast all over her coat & skin along with secondary bacterial skin infection, this can be treated but not cured, by bathing, and antibiotics, but it has been found that Ash has off the scale allergic reaction readings ( She's Allergic) to the Malasezzia, "Yeast condition" :0( Allergies are hereditary. Poor Ash has lost amounts of coat, skin hyper-pigmentation, along with constant itching, chewing and self mutilation. Yeast overgrowth is a nasty piece of work, and is high maintenance to handle and deal with, worse when your girl is allergic to Yeast to :-(

Ash has been diagnosed with "Hypothyroidism" & "Malasezzia", which will now require life-long medication and strict dietary changes, home cooked meals " Barf " along with selective vegetables to hopefully help reduce & rebalance the yeast build up. Both these conditions usually go hand in hand.

Unfortunately Hypothyroid is showing up a lot more in this beautiful breed both here in the UK and the USA, Hypo T dogs should not be breed from and spayed/castrated at the earliest convenience. A simple blood test is all that is required, the best and most accurate place for testing is Mrs Jean Dodds in California USA, her web details on my "Links page under Hemopet" or they can be sent to Katie at the Canine Film Academy UK again web details available on the "Links Page" from where she will do all the needed paperwork and send them out to Jean Dodds.

Ash will be spayed when the specialist(s) advise of the best appropriate time.

Even thought-out all these problems, Ash still remains the ever happy girl with a kiss and a cuddle for her mum, bless her, love you heaps Ash ! Remember these conditions can strike at any time from puppy hood - Adult hood.

Ash ready for the coming winter months

Here wearing her Gillrugs Flectalon Coat, due to mass hair loss due to the above health conditions.

Tuesday 05.10.04, Sorry for the blur around the tail, she loves the coat that much her tail doesn't stop wagging :-)

As you can see from the above photo, Ash has grown a little hair back to some areas, here's hoping it will stay this time and not fall out again, only to common with these health problems :-(
